Please read the following questions and answers before applying. There is a lot of information here, so please take the time to read it all.
This opportunity can be a lot of fun, but it can also come with spending hours on hold, late nights and early mornings, even middle of the night emergencies. It's a commitment that can come with some incredible rewards. It takes time, training, and patience. No one is perfect when they start, but you have a huge support system to help you succeed. This can be a part time or full time opportunity depending on what you make of it.
Becoming a Travel Navigator is a commitment. It takes time, dedication, and drive. This is a role for self starters and those that are task oriented. This is not best suited for hobbyists, even though it can be done on a part-time basis, as it can take up a lot of time. You can expect to start seeing growth and your own travelers (clients) approaching you at around 6 months into being a Navigator. Prior to that, the commitment may feel a bit like a grind. If you can work through these struggles, this is a very rewarding job.
SBV is proud to specialize in bringing new Navigators into the industry and setting them up for success through our detailed and fun training program.
Absolutely! Many Navigators start in a part-time capacity, but if you put in the hard work, and network yourself well, you could find yourself in a full-time position within 2 years.
SBV wants to set all of our Navigators up for success. To guarantee this, we bring everyone on as Navigators in Training. Once you have graduated from Navigators University you will be able to start planning those wonderful vacations for old friends and new ones.
Yes you can! We support a wide range of vendors from Theme Parks, Cruise Lines, All-Inclusive Destinations and International Experiences. You will be trained to plan them all.
SBV will have a max capacity of 500 Navigators. This is so we can maintain a supportive and intimate atmosphere. Within SBV everyone will be broken into "Houses" of 25 navigators so you always have a support system.
Travelers that request a specific Navigator through our platform will be assigned to that specific Navigator.
All other requests will be passed on to our Navigators. This is assigned based on specialization, availability, number of bookings, etc. We do our best to give all Navigators equal opportunities. We also have the opportunity for Navigators to take on a limited amount of additional bookings through our integrated leads platform by turning on and off the Accepting New Travelers feature.
We recommend that our Navigators expand beyond our offerings. Many Navigators are bringing in their own travelers through social media, marketing, small groups, schools & clubs, even their own travels.
SBV operates Monday - Friday 9am to 5pm EST. These are the hours we tell our travelers they can expect to receive support. You are welcome to work during the hours that fit your needs and advertise those hours, but we do not require anything specific. We do not require our Navigators to work on weekends or during family time. In fact we encourage you not to. The only time it is required is when you have travelers actively traveling. During these days you must be available for any emergency they may have. A traveler can schedule a conversation outside of your normal operating hours. If you are unavailable and they need immediate support we will have a team that can assist you.
Yes! We strongly encourage you to have your own website in addition to your single page profile provided to you on the SBV website. We do require that the header of your website says that you are a Navigator for SBV and that you link back to the SBV site as well. Additional branding guidelines will be provided upon joining the team.
We really want to get to know you! Our application process is focused around that.
We have a system of questions that will test what knowledge you may already have. We will email them over to you and allow you a bit of time to think through your answers and give us a little insight into the amazing person you are! We don't expect everyone to know the right answers yet. That is what our training will be for.
Those individuals that would make a good fit to our community will be invited to join our leadership team in a conference video call where you will learn more about what SBV is like and how amazing it is to be a Vacation Navigator.
As much as we would like to invite everyone to join our family, we want to make sure we provide adequate attention to all our Navigators, so we do have to narrow down our invitations further. Those that continue to fit our community best will be asked to put together some questions they may still have about SBV and they will be invited to a one-on-one call with the leadership team. This is the opportunity to really get to know each other and make sure you have a full understanding of the company, commitments, and opportunities.
Not the last step, but the first step towards a new adventure, finalists will begin with an invitation welcoming them to the SBV family and the onboarding and training processes will begin.
SBV does have a $275 startup cost for navigators. This covers your onboarding expenses, training, and on-going support.
SBV does have a $150 annual cost for navigators starting on year two. This covers your ongoing expenses.
SBV Navigators can provide complimentary services to our travelers. Meaning they are 100% free. There are times we may not book a vacation, but assist with traveler planning needs. In this rare instance we would impose a planning fee onto the Traveler. The reason we can offer free vacation planning expertise is because the vendors (like Universal) have commission built into their pricing whether or not the traveler uses a Navigator. So if they book directly with Universal they are paying for a service they are not receiving.
No. Our goal is to see you succeed, but we will re- evaluate annually to make sure all of our Navigators still fit our community and are enjoying their roll as a Navigator.
SBV pays out commission monthly after a traveler returns from vacation. This commission is paid out via direct deposit.
Vacation commission is based on a rolling 12 month program. If your bookings have decreased, you will receive a standard 3 month grace period before your commission decreases to the appropriate tier level.
SBV will provide opportunities to have commission increases. One of our favorite opportunities for this is called "Christmas All Year". Any vacation that travels through Christmas day will receive an additional 5% commission for that vacation.
